Spring is a time of growth and expansion, spend some time outdoors in nature being sure to be dressed appropriately so that you don't catch cold.
The related body parts of spring are the sinews and tendons, take time for gentle stretching.
It is a time to wake up with the sun and not to skip sleeping through those very regenerative hours of 11pm to 3am.
The related emotion of the spring season when out of balance is anger, in balance it is assertiveness. Find ways to “give yourself a break” and to be kind to yourself and others.
I recommend between the hours of 11am to 1pm, find a quiet spot and take 10 minutes to close your eyes, calm your mind and focus on deep abdominal breathing.
Spring is the time of the Wood element in Chinese Medicine and this relates to the Liver and Gallbladder.
Harmonise with Spring and love your liver by eating fresh, green, sprouts, mildly sweet foods (this does not mean sugar) and a moderate amount of sour. Start to have a little bit of raw but still mosly warming by gentle stir fry and steaming.
Artichoke, Nettle, Alfalfa, early Carrots, Algae, Asparagus, Basil, early Beetroot, Broccoli, Celery, Oats, Citrus (peel), Spring Onion, Cucumber, Fennel, Fermented Foods, LEAFY GREENS, Ginger, Radish, Seaweeds, Sour Pickles, Sprouts, Watercress are some of the foods we can enjoy.
Eat slowly savouring the flavours.
Stay away from too much salty, rich heavy foods, alcohol and other stimulants, a little less meat, take a detox from coffee, dont overeat.
Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate!
